What other expenses should I expect?

Football: You will need to purchase your child a pair of cleats. You can usually find them at Rack Room Shoes or Sports Authority for under $40. You will also be reqired to purchase a girdle containing the thigh, hip and tail pads. These vary in cost from $25 to $60. Your coach will tell you which one is good for your child. Your team may also choose to have each child's name stitched into their jersey, that may cost about $10.

Cheerleading: Prior to August 1st you will need to purchase an accessory package for your cheerleader. This package will include a pair of cheerleading shoes, game socks, bloomers, body liner & game hair bow. The cost of this package is usually around $75. When will I hear from a coach after I register?
You should have a team meeting no later than the end of June. If you have questions prior to this meeting please feel free to call us at: 247-3468

Why do you need my child's report card?
Pop Warner is a strong believer in academic achievement. Football and cheerleading are major time commitments on the part of the kids and parents. Children must show ability to maintain a grade point average high enough in order to be eligible to play, a C average. In addition, Pop Warner recognizes academic excellence with our “Little Scholar” program.

Can girls play football with the boys or can boys cheer on a squad?
Your child can do anything they set their mind to. Absolutely.
- BACK -
How much practice is there?
Football players practice 3 days a week & cheerleaders practice 2-3 days a week. Practice schedules are up to the coaches of your team.

My child wants to be on the same team with his/her friends. Is that possible?
We are able to take a REQUEST ONLY to be on a certain team and their names need to be listed on the registration form. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE ANY REQUESTS. We will do our best to put friends together, but ages & weights of division’s overlap slightly and in order to have the numbers necessary for each team and maintain a safe environment, we may not be able to accommodate everyone.

Can my daughter cheer for my sons’ team?
Yes, but ONLY if the age groups of the division match and there is a squad for his team. (Click here to view the Age and Weight Chart for more information.)

Where are the games?
About 50% of the games will be home games played here in Jax Beach at Wingate Park. Away games are usually about 45 minutes away and parents are responsible for all transportation to and from games and practices. Away games are not optional for cheerleaders. All players and cheerleaders are expected to participate. You will be traveling to areas such as Orange Park, Middleburg, Fernandina Beach and Palm Coast. If you are new to the area or never cross the ditch don't worry, we will all meet and caravan so you will have someone to follow.
